ANNOUNCEMENT - Due to events beyond our control, we are moving the Chili Cook Off INSIDE the amphitheater. This way we can insure that the weather doesn't ruin equipment, and the show won't get cancelled. Thank you for your understanding.

From the North:
Travel I-95 to Exit 82, take Chamberlayne Avenue (301), turn left at third traffic light onto Azalea Avenue, follow signs (2.5 miles). OR Travel I-95 to Exit 84A onto I-295 South. Follow I-295 to Exit 38-B - Meadowbridge Road. Travel Meadowbridge Road approximately five miles; the entrances will be on the left.
From the South:
Travel I-95 to Exit 82 (DO NOT TAKE FAIRGROUND EXIT 76-A), at end of exit ramp turn right on Chamberlayne Avenue (301), at a second traffic light turn left onto Azalea Avenue, follow signs (2.5 miles). From the East:
Travel I-64 west to Exit 195, turn right at end of exit ramp onto Laburnum Avenue, about five miles to Richmond Raceway Complex. OR Travel I-64 West to Exit 200 onto I-295 North. Follow I-295 to Exit 38-B - Meadowbridge Road. Travel Meadowbridge Road approximately five miles; the entrances will be on the left.
All patrons of The X Chili Cook-Off must have a ticket, regardless of age. All ticket sales are final. You can ONLY buy a pit pass online. 10 and under are admitted for FREE.
Enter the Chili Cook-Off through Gate 4 of the Richmond Raceway Complex. This is off Laburnum Avenue, just past the main gate.

It's an all-ages concert event. However, this may not be the best environment for children under 10. Don't bring them out only to leave them alone for hours while you're off being drunk, dumb and stupid. Please leave your small children with a sitter, family member or someone you trust. Please use your best judgment.
Please bring your ID. Must be 21 to drink.

No professional cameras. Small pocket cameras and cell phone cameras will be permitted.

No weapons. Security has the right to seize items that may be considered dangerous. If you're not sure, leave it at home
No re-entry. Once you leave, you're out. (or pay to get back in)
All patrons will be searched by security prior to entry

There are two categories of cooks, amateur and professional (affiliated with a licensed restaurant). Either way you need to do these things in order to participate.
You will need to fill out an application: Download the application Cook Application
You will need to apply to the Henrico County Health Department for a temporary Restaurant Permit. There is a $40 application fee that coincides with applying, but don't worry, we'll pay that. Download the temporary food permit application Temporary Food Permit Application
You will need to prove that you are a certified food handler. For professionals this means providing some sort of documentation that certifies you passed a food handling class, such as ServSafe certification. For amateurs, this means passing a demonstration of knowledge test administered by the Henrico County Health Department. You can take each demonstration of knowledge test at each of the cook meetings. Download the temporary food regulations Temporary Food Regulations
You will need to provide a seperate $50 deposit check upon registration. This will be returned after checking in the morning of the Chili Cook Off.
You will also need to attend one of the mandatory Chili Cook Off meetings. These cook meetings will be held Thursday, March 24 and Thursday March 31 at 6pm at Clear Channel Radio 3245 Basie Road Richmond, VA 23228. One of your team members must attend at least one of these meetings. Cooks teams can be up to 10 people max.
Cut off for Chili Cook Registration will be on Wednesday, March 31st. At this time all paperwork must be complete, so get your all your registration papers in order early.
We will be discussing other guidelines with the Henrico County Police and Fire departments at our cook meetings.
IF you are in, There are Three Basic Rules:
Your area must be set up and all vehicles are out of the midway by 10:00am
You are required to cook at least 60 gallons of chili
There has to be one cook at your tent that does not consume any alcohol
We Will Provide:
1 10x10 Tent
1 8 ft. Table
2 Chairs
Electricity at a cost of $20 per outlet needed. (Please submit separate check for power)
Things you will be responsible for providing:
A valid ID. Everyone over 21 must be wrist banded.
A functioning fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A 10BC and that meets Henrico County's Health, Fire and Public Safety guidelines.
Your utensils and cooking supplies
Your ingredients including water
Bleach, hand sanitizer and plastic gloves
Spoons and serving cups to dispense the chili. (The smaller, the better; that way your chili will last longer) We recommend cups of a 1 oz size or smaller.
